Original oil on canvas painting Madonna and Child from Cardinal Richard Cushing's private collection.

This is a beautiful oil painting from the Cardinal Richard Cushing estate. The subject of this amazing piece is Madonna with child. This piece was part of the private collection of Cardinall Richard Cushing (1895-1970). The Cardinal served as Archbishop of Boston and was a close friend of the the Kennedy Family. He officiated at the marriage of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Lee Bouvier in 1953. He baptized many of the Kennedy children. Cushing also gave the prayer invocation at Kennedy's inauguration in 1961. The Cardinal also celebrated President Kennedy's funeral Mass in 1963 at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C. and the day before the funeral, he gave a televised eulogy for the assassinated President. This like all the other pieces from the Cardinal's personal collection is a very nice piece. The framed work measures about 38"X43.5" and it is in a very ornate frame.
